
Kathmandu, Sept 12: The Nepali Army announced Thursday evening that it has recovered 97 firearms stolen from various police posts during the Gen Z protests.
According to the Army’s Public Relations and Information Directorate, four prisoners who had escaped from the Central Prison in Sundhara and three juveniles who fled the Child Correction Home in Silgadhi, Doti, during the unrest have also been rearrested.
In addition, 39 inmates who broke out of Gajuri Prison in Dhading and 16 juveniles missing from the Child Correction Home in Daduwa, Banke, were taken back into custody.
The army also said it had foiled an attempted jailbreak at the Banke District Prison in Nepalgunj, where inmates had tried to escape by setting a fire. One prisoner was injured while security forces brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, eight socket bombs discovered in Banepa-9, Kavrepalanchok, were safely defused, the army confirmed.
