Kathmandu, September 12: President Ram Chandra Paudel is engaged in continuous consultations for the formation of a new government.
President Paudel on Friday intensified consultations for the formation of an interim government led by former Chief Justice Sushila Karki.
He has held discussions with the commander-in-chief Gen Ashokraj Sigdel at Shital Niwas for the formation of the government.
Although there is an agreement to form an interim government under the leadership of former chief justice Karki, a consensus has yet to be reached on the dissolution of parliament.
In the talks between the President, the Chief of Army Staff and the representatives of the agitating Gen-Z, Karki and Sudan Gurung have taken a stand to dissolve the parliament first. But there is a dilemma whether to swear in the Prime Minister first or not.
According to the constitutional provision, the President has to approve the decision recommended by the Prime Minister for the dissolution of Parliament.
President Paudel is looking for ways to cause less damage to the constitution. In other words, President Paudel is trying to save his presidential position in a new situation. He also called for a new constitutional process. On the other hand, Sushila Karki is seen in favor of taking the oath only by dissolving the House of Representatives.
