Kathmandu, Sept 12: A consensus has been reached to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the head of government this evening.
The agreement was reached on Friday after day-long discussions to dissolve the House of Representatives.
According to sources at Sheetal Niwas, President Ramchandra Paudel backed down from his earlier position of dissolving the House only after handing over the government leadership to Karki.
Some protesting youths had warned of immediately surrounding Sheetal Niwas, saying they could no longer hold back. In response, Paudel informed top leaders of major parties that he was about to dissolve the House and immediately administer the oath of office to Karki as prime minister.
Sources said that work is underway at Sheetal Niwas to draft the decision to dissolve the House, prepare the appointment letter for Karki, and complete related tasks.
