Embassies of seven nations pained by Monday’s bloodshed

Kathmandu, Sept 9: The embassies of seven countries in Kathmandu have voiced concern over Monday’s violence in the capital and other parts of Nepal.

In a joint statement released in the evening, they said they were deeply saddened by the incidents that left people dead and injured during protests. “We offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, stand with all affected, and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” the statement read.

The message was issued by the embassies of Australia, Finland, France, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

It added that their governments remain firm in supporting the rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression. They called on all sides to show restraint, prevent further escalation, and safeguard these fundamental rights.
