Prachanda: Congress-UML coalition government formed by middlemen

Kathmandu, Sept 7: Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, chair of the CPN (Maoist Center), accused that the Congress-UML coalition government was created by middlemen.

Speaking at a program organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Pokhara, he claimed the coalition was not formed through political wisdom but due to the pressure and threats of brokers.

“This government was formed out of fear yesterday and is surviving on fear today. Honest friends inside Congress and UML should not stay in such a government,” he said.

He argued that the government represents crony capitalism and broker-led practices, positioning his party as the alternative force. Prachanda also described the Maoist movement as standing for the middle class, stating his party represents them, with debt waivers, cooperative reforms, and upliftment of the lower class as priorities.

Pointing to the cooperative savings mismanagement, he accused Congress and UML leaders of being at the root of the problem. “We tried to punish fraudsters through a powerful authority, but the government collapsed. That is why the work could not proceed,” he said.
