Kathmandu, August 28: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday evening trained delegates representing Kathmandu in the upcoming Statute Convention. According to UML Kathmandu Chair Deepak Niraula, Oli invited the delegates to the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar for the session, which Rameshwar Phuyal coordinated.
Niraula said Oli remarked that within the UML, the only leader strong enough to challenge him was Bidhya Bhandari. “No one except Bidhya has the strength. If she steps back, everything will be fine,” Niraula quoted him as saying. Oli also mentioned that Bhandari’s party membership would not be renewed, arguing that she lacked experience in running the party. He added that the People’s Multi-Party Democracy (Ja Ba Ja) was not the personal or family property of anyone.
Oli stated, “Things cannot be run on sentiment. Madan Bhandari’s ideas are sacred, but they are not household property. People’s Multi-Party Democracy is not a family asset, and it is not for the Madan Bhandari Foundation to safeguard it.”
He further commented that Senior Vice Chairman Ishwar Pokhrel had strayed from the path. “Where has Ishwar Pokhrel gone? One should not walk off course,” Oli said, adding, “An unfortunate person tends to get angry at mealtime.”
