Kathmandu, August 15: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to visit different parts of the country starting from Bhadra (August-September). Bhandari is starting the district visit program from the Koshi Province.
After the UML refused to renew Bhandari’s party membership, she is trying to build pressure by meeting with grassroots-level party workers to discuss her party leadership.
She is visiting districts on the eve of the party’s Statute Convention.
The statute convention is aimed at changing somel provisions, including removing the age bar and also the retirement after completing two terms in office, paving the way for UML Chair K.P. Sharma Oli to continue the party leadership further.
The party has already divided into for and against Bhandari’s desire to become active in politics even after serving two terms in the post of the President of the nation.
