
Kathmandu, Aug 14: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to visit China on August 30 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, according to a source close to him.
The summit will be held in Beijing on August 31 and September 1. Chinese President Xi Jinping will inaugurate the event, which will also be attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and heads of state and government from other countries.
During his participation, Oli will hold separate meetings with President Xi and his Indian counterpart, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.
The SCO was established in 2001 with the aim of promoting regional stability. It has ten-member states: China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, and Belarus.
Nepal has been a dialogue partner of the organization since 2016. This will be the first time Nepal is taking part in the summit at such a high level. The discussions will cover political, economic, and security issues.
