‘Nepal-China relations are like a magnet’

Kathmandu, Aug 11: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghurji Pant has said that Nepal and China share a relationship like that of a magnet. Speaking at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy on Sunday evening to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in the war against fascism and resistance against Japanese aggression, Minister Pant remarked.

He said Nepal could learn much from China’s determination and ambition. Pointing out that China is gradually becoming a decisive force in the global order, Pant added, “The role China has played in Nepal’s development is one that few other countries have taken on.”

Minister Pant also noted that cooperation between the two countries could bring a major change in the education sector.

Addressing the event, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said China has always maintained a positive approach to working with Nepal. He added that peaceful development is a defining feature of China.

To mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japanese aggression and fascism, the Chinese Embassy had also organized competitions for students in five categories: dance, song, painting, public speaking, and traditional attire.

Students from more than a dozen schools in the capital took part. Minister Pant and Ambassador Chen jointly presented awards to the winners.
