Kathmandu, August 1: The duration of driving license has been increased from 5 years to 10 years. The driver’s license is now valid for 10 years.
The government has doubled the license period with the publication of a bill in the gazette to amend some Nepal Acts.
By amending sub-section (3) of section 54 of the Vehicle and Transportation Arrangement Act, 2049, the government has increased the duration of the license from 5 years to 10 years.
The validity period of the renewed license will now be 10 years instead of 5 years.
According to the new legal system, now the private sector will also be allowed to operate vehicle inspection passes and pollution testing centers. This is expected to increase competition and ease of service flow.
However, those obtaining a license before the implementation of the present provision may renew their license within the five year tenure.
