Missing Hayu family from Sindhuli found in Pokhara

July 28, Pokhara – The police have handed over the Hayu family, who had gone missing from Chetpa in Golanjor Rural Municipality-6 of Sindhuli and were later found in Pokhara, to their relatives.

They were located on Monday night in Gagangauda, Ward-30 of Pokhara Metropolitan City, and were entrusted to Dhan Bahadur and Amis Tamang, according to the police. The handover took place in the presence of Ward Chair Durga Prasad Subedi and others.

The Hayu family had disappeared from their home on the night of July 24. Though it was initially reported that 16 members of the family had gone missing, a total of 19 people were found in Pokhara. Police say all of them are members or relatives of the Hayu family.

After receiving information about the disappearance of 16 family members, local administrations from Sindhuli, Ramechhap, and Kaski had launched a search operation. The missing individuals were eventually located in Gagangauda, Pokhara, where they had been staying in a hotel.

They later took shelter in the homes of locals Somnath Paudel and Chandra Bhandari, claiming to have come to Pokhara for construction work.

They reportedly told authorities they had left their village because frequent illnesses plagued them in Chetpa, and they had no intention of returning.
