Kathmandu, May 15: The position of the Nepali Congress MP, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, who is also a former minister, has been suspended. He was automatically suspended from the post of the MP after the Commission for Investigation on Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a corruption case against him in the Teramax case.
Basnet is a member of the House of Representatives representing Sindhupalchok 2.
When he was Minister for Communications, Basnet directed the implementation of Teramax beyond the authority of the Cabinet.
CIAA has claimed a total of 3 billion 21 crore 83 lakh 77 thousand 182 rupees from 16 alleged officials, including Basnet.
The MP’s post will be automatically suspended after filing of the corruption case, according to existing laws.
