
Kathmandu, June 12: British ambassador Rob Fenn paid a courtesy call on Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari.
Minister Bhandari and the envoy held talks on bilateral interests and cooperation during the meeting. The Minister expressed the belief that there will be a concerted effort for British investment in the hydropower and energy sectors as well as the manufacturing industry and IT industry.
Minister Bhandari said, “Nepal is going to be upgraded from a least developed country to a developing country in 2026, after that initiatives be taken to continue the add provided to the least developed countries to Nepal for a few years”.
During the meeting, ambassador Fen expressed the view that the development of Nepal’s private sector is a priority for the UK and is willing to work closely with the Nepalese government. He also expressed his commitment to support Nepali exports in the meeting. Ambassador Fan said that Britain is a country that favors an open economy and said that he would play the role of a bridge between Nepal and the world market.
