Kathmandu, February 9: The Kathmandu District Court gave the order to the Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police (CIB) to release Arun Chaudhary and two others alleged to be involved in transferring ten bighas of precious land belonging to the Bansbari Leather Shoes Factory in Bansbari, Kathmandu.
Following the court’s order, Chaudhary and the two others were released on bail on Wednesday, February 7.
The bench of Justice Yagya Prasad Acharya had given the order for releasing the three alleged persons by keeping them under police custody for a further two days.
Judge Acharya, said, “There is no situation to keep the alleged culprits for 25 days under police custody” and ordered that the rest of the work be completed within two days.
Immediately after the arrest, the three alleged culprits were admitted to the Chirayou Hospital and later were transferred to the Grandy Hospital.
Now, the government has started the process of returning the land occupied by the Chaudhary Group. The Land Registration Office in Kathmandu has written a letter for returning the land. It means that those alleged culprits may get clean chit after returning to the occupied land.
There is much evidence that the Police, with the permission of the Court, have kept many alleged culprits for months under the Police custody. However, in the case of so-called VIPs, the court has given such an order for release immediately after the police arrest.
To note, Arun is a businessman and his elder brother Binod is the MP from the Nepali Congress.
There is a popular saying in Nepal, “Thulalai Chain, Sanalai Ain” (impunity to big people and laws for the small people). This law is in practice in the present “loktantrik” days in the country.
