Kathmandu, January 12: President Ramchandra Paudel paid tribute to the statue of Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah in front of the West Main Gate to Singha Durbar this morning on the occasion of the Prithivi Jayanti and National Unity Day.
Today marks the 302nd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah who initiated the national unification campaign in 1743, hence, Prithvi Jayanti is celebrated each year in honor of the nation-builder. The government has declared a public holiday today.
