Kathmandu, 17 November: The President’s Office has claimed that the hearing of the petition filed against President Bidya Devi Bhandari regarding the non-certification of the Citizenship Bill by the Supreme Court is an insult to the President’s institution.
In the written reply submitted by the President’s Office to the Supreme Court, it was reminded that there is a legal provision that does not lead to a case in court on the actions taken by the President. In this way, it has been claimed in the written reply that the registration of a writ and the hearing of a matter clearly defined by the law is an insult to the President’s institution.
In a written reply submitted by the Secretary of the President’s Office, Yadav Prasad Koirala, it is said, “The writ petitioner entering the court with a clean hand (Clean Hand Doctrine) and accepting the writ petition from the court and taking it to the hearing process is not only a violation of the law but also an insult to the respected institution (Presidential Institution).” Therefore, the writ petition should be dismissed as prima facie, it is said in the writ petition.
