CPN-US faces internal dispute

Kathmandu, 24 June: Ten MPs belonging to the CPN US, including four ministers have demanded to call the parliamentarian party meeting to discuss the issue of changing the ministers from the party in the government.

They, handing over a letter to chairman Madhav Nepal on Thursday, have expressed surprise at the party’s decision for changing the ministers at a time when the parliament session is on.

Ministers Birodh Khatiwada, Ramkumari Jhakri, Prembahadur Ale and Krishnakumar Shrestha have also signed the letter handed over to the party chairman.

Six MPs have supported the ministers’ present move against the party decision. MPs Krishnalal Maharjan, Gopalbahadur Bam, Binadevi Budhathoki, Pushpakumari Karna Kayastha, Dhanbahadur Budha and Nira Jairu are the MPs demanding the parliamentarian party meeting.

Since the CPN US decided for sending a new team 20 days ago, the ministers have become furious and they are putting pressure on PM Deuba for not implementing the party decision. Otherwise, they have warned of dissolving the present government by splitting the party.

The present act of the CPN US has demonstrated the ministers’ greediness for power, whereas, the party leadership is facing a serious problem on the issue. The party has already recommended four names for ministerial assignment by replacing the four ministers in the cabinet. PM Deuba is denying implementing the CON US’s decision.
