The Nepali Congress party predicted by most of the impartial political observers to lose the November 15 elections is desperate. The caretaker Prime Minister, Mr Girija Prasad Koirala, taking full advantage of the government machinery and public funds, has hit the camping trail. Mr. Koirala who ordered the midterm polls is desperate and his gamble might not pay off, according to present indications. Reporters questing “intelligence” sources have put the maximum number of seats for the Nepali Congress at 70 and the lower figure is as low as 40. The caretaker Prime Minister’s desperation is, therefore quite understandable and the three and half years of misgovernance by the Nepali Congress, the Prime Minister is asking the people to vote the party back to power.
