Sarita Giri, who was elected to the House of Representatives, has lost the post after her controversial activity during voting in the House held to endorse the updated map of Nepal.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat informed that Giri lost her position as a lawmaker.
In a notice, the parliament secretariat’s General Secretary Bharat Raj Gautam informed her party, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, that Giri was removed from the position, and, hence, she should be removed from the House of Representatives as per the Act on Political Parties, and the House Regulations.
Earlier on Tuesday, the party had decided to take action against her for disobeying a party whip last month.
The party had directed all of its lawmakers to vote in favour of the constitution amendment bill registered by the government. However, Giri had filed an amendment proposal against the sentiment of the bill brought to constitutionally recognise the country’s new political map.
