The government of China has handed over the Kalanki-Koteshwor section of the Ring Road to Nepal on Monday.
The 10.39 kilometres section of the Ring Road was widened by the Chinese government at the cost of Rs. 3.75 billion rupees.
The construction work on the road section had begun in 2013 and completed a month ago.
Chinese ambassador Hou Yanqi announced the handover of the road section by handing over the key of the road to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Addressing the handover ceremony held at Khumaltar on Monday, Prime Minister Oli said that the support of neighbours would be necessary for the rapid development of Nepal.
He said that multiple assistances of the neighbouring countries were a must to realise the dream of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
“China has assisted Nepal with a generous and wide heart for the development and prosperity of Nepal. I appreciate it,” he said.
Stating that the government was working with a mission to move the country a step ahead every day, the Prime Minister maintained that there was no excuse to delay the development works.
The government was prepared to clear the obstacles that were in the form of acts, laws and rules on the path of the speedy development, Oli stated.
Chinese ambassador Hou termed the project as a testimony to cordial relations between Nepal and China.
Rabindranath Shrestha, director general at Department of Roads, informed that the works of the second phase would begin soon.
