The youth possess the power to transform the nation. That power must be channeled not into anger, but into creativity, awareness, truth, and responsibility.
The incident that took place in Tripureshwor on September 21 has compelled Nepali society to think seriously about the direction in which our society is heading. Although a single incident cannot represent the entire society, such events raise important questions about our social values, the mindset of young people, political awareness, social responsibility, and our vision for the future.
Today’s youth are not only the future of the country; they are also important representatives of change in the present. Therefore, it is essential to channel dissatisfaction, anger, and opposition to injustice in the right direction. Peaceful protest is a democratic right, but violence, vandalism, arson, or damage to life and property ultimately weakens society itself.
The first lesson young people can learn from the Tripureshwor incident is that anger must be guided by wisdom and responsibility. Not every piece of information circulating on social media is true. Unverified news, rumours, and provocative content can quickly create tension and conflict. Therefore, verifying information before reacting to an event or sharing news has become an important responsibility for today’s youth.
At the same time, speaking out against government failures, corruption, unemployment, inflation, inequality, or injustice is not wrong. What matters equally is the way that voice is expressed. Peaceful demonstrations, informed debate, legal processes, and democratic pressure can be meaningful ways to demand change.
Society should also not simply blame young people. It is important to understand the reasons behind their frustration. If young people are demanding employment opportunities, dignity, transparency, and a secure future, the state and society must take these concerns seriously and address them constructively.
Today’s generation needs to understand one important thing: changing a country requires not only energy and passion, but also knowledge, discipline, patience, and responsibility. A wrong decision made in a moment of anger can cause serious harm not only to an individual but also to their family, society, and the nation.
Therefore, the Tripureshwor incident should not simply be forgotten as another incident. It should become an opportunity for society to reflect and learn. Young people should not be silenced; their voices should be heard. At the same time, young people should strive to make their voices responsible, constructive, and democratic.
