Kathmandu, Sept 21: The Nepali Congress has completed ward conventions in 6,132 wards across the country. The conventions began on Saturday, with voting completed in 3,396 wards across 43 districts on the first day. The remaining wards held their conventions on Sunday. However, conventions are still pending in some wards of four districts, according to the party’s Central Election Committee.
Ward conventions were completed on Sunday in Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Sankhuwasabha, Tehrathum, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Khotang, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Udayapur and Jhapa.
Central Election Committee Member Secretary Raju Katuwal said conventions were also completed in all wards of Morang except those in Constituency 6, all wards of Saptari except those in constituencies 2 and 4, and all wards of Sarlahi except those in Constituency 2. Voting was also completed in Dhanusha and Mahottari, as well as in all wards of Rautahat except those in Constituency 1.
Conventions were also held in Bara, Parsa, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Kaski, Manang, Mustang, Parbat, Syangja, Myagdi, Baglung and Nawalpur. In Parasi, conventions were completed outside Constituency 2.
The process was also completed in Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Rukum East, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Rukum West, Salyan, Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Surkhet, Bajura, Bajhang, Doti, Achham, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura, Kanchanpur and Kailali.
Under the schedule issued by the Central Election Committee, conventions will be held on Monday in the remaining wards, except those in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. These include wards in Saptari constituencies 2 and 4, Siraha, Morang Constituency 6, Rautahat Constituency 1, Sarlahi Constituency 2 and Parasi Constituency 2.
According to the election schedule, rural municipality and municipality conventions will be held on September 23. Provincial Assembly and House of Representatives constituency conventions will follow on September 26, while the central General Convention will take place from October 2 to 5.
