Kathmandu, Sept 19: Constitution Day being marked with various programmes today

Nepal’s Constitution was promulgated by the Constituent Assembly on Asoj 3, 2072 BS (September 20, 2015), marking the culmination of the Nepali people’s long struggle and sacrifices.

The assembly formed after the second Constituent Assembly election adopted the Constitution following sustained efforts and prolonged disputes.

On the evening of Asoj 3, 2072 BS (September 20, 2015), then President Dr Ram Baran Yadav announced its promulgation at the International Convention Centre in New Baneshwar, where the Constituent Assembly met.

Asoj 3 has since been observed as Constitution Day. This year, it falls on September 19, 2026.

The government has traditionally held a special ceremony at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel to mark the occasion.
