Smart license printing halted for more than two months

The printing of smart vehicle driving licences (smart licences) has come to a complete halt for the past two months due to obstacles in the process of transferring authority to provincial governments.

As a result, thousands of service recipients who have passed their driving licence examinations are facing severe hardship. In line with the spirit of federalism, the printing of licences for newly approved applicants and those undergoing the renewal process has been suspended since Shrawan 1 following the transfer of authority.

As new licences cannot be printed, the problem of applicants having to wait for months to receive their cards has worsened. Service recipients have complained that they are being forced to drive around fearing that they may be fined during traffic checks.
