Flood donations handed to Minister Wagle cross Rs 2.73 billion

Kathmandu, Sept 14: A total of Rs2.734 billion and US$121,565.4 in donations have been handed over to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle and deposited in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Of the total support, Rs2.657 billion, or 97.2 per cent, came from 450 institutional entities, while Rs77.16 million, or 2.8 per cent, was donated by 40 individuals.

About 78.5 per cent of the total amount was received through cheques, with the remainder coming through cash, vouchers and online payments. The highest single day of donations was Bhado 15, when 85 institutions and individuals contributed Rs598.7 million.

On Bhado 26 alone, 22 institutions and individuals donated Rs303.228 million and US$1 million.

The Ministry of Finance said details of every donation received by the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, including the donor, payment method, date and government decisions on the use of the funds, are being updated and made public daily through the ministry’s official portal, mofnepal.github.io/rasuwa-flood-update.

The ministry expressed sincere gratitude to all institutions and individuals who have extended support in solidarity with people affected by the disaster.

The government has urged anyone wishing to contribute to the relief effort to donate to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund through its official payment portal, donate.gov.np.
