Sharada Library reopens

Kathmandu, September 12: Lalitpur Metropolitan City has reopened the historic Sharada Library, which had remained closed since 2046 B.S.

The library, inaugurated on Friday by senior cultural academician Hari Ram Joshi, is located on the fourth floor of Block ‘B’ of the new building of Lalitpur Metropolitan City. Until the People’s Movement of 2046 B.S., the Sharada Library operated from the building of the Lalitpur Town Panchayat. Joshi thanked Lalitpur Metropolitan City for reviving the Sharada Library.

Similarly, Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan said that a city library and city hall are indispensable for any city and that the metropolitan city had therefore given priority to them. Deputy Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Manjali Shakya Bajracharya said the metropolitan city had restored the Sharada Library to promote awareness of the importance of a reading culture.
