Kathmandu, September 10: Engineer Deepak Kumar Sah, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) elected from Sunsari-4, has been appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
Prime Minister Balen Shah assigned Sah the portfolio following the resignation of Industry Minister Gauri Kumari Yadav. Although they share the same name, Deepak Sah, who previously served as Labour Minister, and the Sah who has now become Industry Minister are two different individuals. The former Deepak Sah is from Mahottari-2, while the current minister is from Sunsari-4.
In the recent House of Representatives election, Sah defeated Nepali Congress influential leader and former minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki in Sunsari-4.
Sah’s academic and professional background is rooted in the technical field. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pulchowk Engineering Campus and a master’s degree in Natural Resource Development from Nepal Open University.
Before entering full-time politics, Sah worked in the hydropower sector for 23 years. He also has experience working as a technical examiner at the National Vigilance Centre.
Sah began his political career with the Janamat Party. After leaving Janamat, he formed a party under his own leadership. Before the election, he joined the RSP and contested the election from Sunsari-4.
