Hetauda, Sept 1: Starting today, small passenger vehicles travelling between Hetauda and Kathmandu will have to use different routes for the outbound and return journeys due to increased traffic on the Hetauda-Kathmandu road.
According to the local administration, passenger vehicles with a capacity of fewer than 14 seats will travel via Bhimphedi, Kulekhani, Sisneri and Dakshinkali. Vehicles travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda will have to use the Farping, Phakhel, Kulekhani and Bhimphedi route.
According to Santosh Subedi, administrative officer at the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, cargo vehicles and large passenger buses heading to Kathmandu must use the Tribhuvan Rajpath, while those returning from Kathmandu must use the Kanti Highway.
Traffic pressure on the Hetauda-Kathmandu route has increased after the road was blocked at Krishnabhir in Dhading along the Prithvi Highway.
The new arrangement is expected to ease traffic congestion on alternative roads and reduce the need for vehicles to remain stuck for long periods.
