Pokhara, Aug 29: A mother and her daughter died after being swept away by floodwater in Pokhara on Friday evening.
They were travelling from Birauta toward Prithvi Chowk on a scooter, registration number Ga 13 Pa 2859. As they pulled over and were getting off the scooter, the sudden surge of water swept away the girl, Rani, carrying her into a roadside drain.
The mother, Sushma, also fell into the drain while trying to rescue her daughter. The rushing water then swept both of them about two kilometres downstream toward Birauta.
They were rescued unconscious from a canal in Birauta, Pokhara 17, and taken to Gandaki Medical College for treatment.
The mother died during treatment on Friday night, while her daughter died this morning.
