
Kathmandu, August 28: Social worker Raji Rana has donated Rs 10.9 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. This is one of the largest contributions made by an individual to the relief fund.
Rana, wife of the late Prabhu Shumsher Rana, made the donation through the Prabhu-Raji Foundation to provide immediate relief to victims of the Rasuwa floods. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle received the cheque for the contribution, which Rana sent through her aide, Krishna Basnet, at the ministry on Friday.
On the occasion, employees working at Rana’s office also handed over Rs 80,000 in personal contributions to the Relief Fund. Rana is also preparing to provide relief supplies and foodstuffs worth an additional Rs 2.5 million. She has pledged to provide assistance of an equivalent value at locations where it is needed, in coordination with the Ministries of Finance and Home Affairs.
