Pakistan PM phones PM Shah; promises relief assistance

Kathmandu, August 28: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is learnt to have spoken by phone with Prime Minister Balendra Shah and expressed heartfelt condolences over the devastation caused by the Rasuwa floods on Wednesday.

Sharif wrote on X, “I spoke with Prime Minister Balendra Shah of Nepal this afternoon to convey my heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of precious lives and widespread devastation caused by the recent flash floods and landslides.”

“Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with the Government and people of Nepal in this difficult hour. I assured Prime Minister Shah of our full support and conveyed that Pakistan is dispatching emergency relief assistance to contribute to the ongoing relief efforts.”

Likewise, according to the Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu, President Asif Ali Zardari and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar have extended their condolences to their counterparts in Nepal and expressed solidarity with Nepal as it faces the challenges posed by the devastating floods.
