Kathmandu, Aug 26: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reported damage to electricity generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure following a sudden flood in Rasuwa district.
According to the NEA, the flood has damaged infrastructure at the Rasuwa Gadhi, Chilime, Trishuli 3A and Trishuli 3B hydropower projects, as well as the 220 kV Hub substation, Trishuli and Devighat hydropower plants. Power supply has also been disrupted after several distribution structures were damaged.
The NEA said the flood has caused significant loss of life and property, damaging homes, roads, bridges, electricity infrastructure and other physical structures.
The authority has urged all concerned agencies to immediately mobilise effectively for the search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation of security personnel, government employees and members of the public who are missing or affected by the flood.
Warning that the risk of flooding may persist, the NEA has urged government employees, its staff and the public living near rivers and streams, riverbanks and other vulnerable areas to remain highly alert. It has also advised people to move to safer locations immediately if further risks emerge.
The NEA said it is making every possible effort to restore regular power supply. It has urged the public to remain patient until electricity is restored and asked all concerned to share only official information.
