Kathmandu, Aug 25: Prime Minister Balendra Shah will attend Wednesday’s House of Representatives meeting wearing dark glasses.
Shah is scheduled to attend the meeting at 1 pm, where he will take part in a direct question-and-answer session with lawmakers.
Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal had asked lawmakers, through chief whips and whips, not to attend parliamentary meetings wearing dark glasses. He had said those who needed to wear them should provide a medical report explaining the reason.
Despite the request, Shah will attend the meeting wearing dark glasses.
The prime minister has sent a letter to the Federal Parliament Secretariat explaining why he needs to wear them, along with his medical report.
Shah underwent an eye examination at the Nepali Army’s Chhauni-based military hospital on August 7 after experiencing difficulty looking at bright light.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr Sachit Dhakal examined his eyes.
According to the medical report, Shah has difficulty seeing in bright light and suffers from dry eyes, requiring him to use eye drops periodically.
The Prime Minister’s Office informed the Parliament Secretariat through the letter that he, therefore, needs to wear dark glasses.
