Kathmandu, August 23: Jai Nepal Party Chairman and former lawmaker Dhabal Shumsher Rana has held a meeting with former King Gyanendra Shah. During the meeting held at the Soltee Hotel in Kathmandu on Saturday, the two had a nearly two-hour one-on-one conversation.

Party leaders said Rana and former King Shah held a separate meeting while attending an event organized by the Himani Trust.

According to Sagun Sundar Lawati, Chief of the Secretariat of the Jai Nepal Party, the meeting focused on contemporary political developments. He described the meeting as “productive.”

The two also held extensive discussions about the formation of the Jai Nepal Party, its objectives, and the country’s current political and social situation.

“We have formed the Jai Nepal Party, and I also informed him about it. We exchanged good wishes and held extensive discussions on the contemporary political and social situation,” Rana said.

Rana said former King Shah congratulated him on the formation of the new party and also offered his views and advice. According to Rana, the former king suggested that the party should move forward by bringing everyone together.

During the meeting, Rana also informed former King Shah that the party had already held its first Central Committee meeting and had adopted a course of action aimed at building public support for the monarchy and a Hindu state.
