Investigate us, but don’t spread rumours: Ganga Dahal

Kathmandu, Aug 21: Ganga Dahal, daughter of Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, has said she and her family are ready to face any legal investigation by state agencies. However, she said they would not accept baseless allegations or accusations of wrongdoing without evidence.

In a social media post, Dahal said that rumours targeting her family have been spread from time to time and urged the government to seriously consider the motives behind them.

“We are always ready for any legal investigation by any state agency under the Constitution and laws created through the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs. But why are such rumours repeatedly spread? What is the purpose behind spreading them?” she wrote.

Saying that she and her family had survived situations that put their lives at risk, Dahal claimed they understood what was permissible and what was not.

She said they had been raised with the principle that they must not deceive the public. Dahal also claimed that neither she nor her family had engaged in financial wrongdoing or abused public office.

She said the family had submitted its property details to the government some time ago and pledged to cooperate with any investigation conducted by the authorities.

“If we are proven to have done anything wrong, we will face the consequences. But allegations made without reason or wrongdoing are not acceptable,” she wrote.
