Ilam, Aug 16: CPN UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has described the current government as an “accidental government”, criticising the circumstances under which it was formed and its working style.
Addressing a central committee meeting of the Democratic Indigenous Nationalities Federation, Nepal, in Ilam, Oli compared the government’s formation to a child playing carrom and a piece accidentally falling into a pocket.
He claimed the current government came into existence after an uncomfortable situation was created in the country. Oli also accused the government of engaging in politics of revenge since its formation.
He alleged that efforts were being made at various times to arrest him, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak and other political leaders and implicate them in false cases.
Oli further accused the government of attempting to impose restrictions on various sectors in violation of democratic values.
Urging his party cadres not to be discouraged by such activities, Oli stressed the need for everyone to unite to protect the country’s interests and sovereignty.
He said there was no need to be intimidated by what he described as the government’s “mischief” and called on party workers to move forward with a strong sense of patriotism.
