In the current situation, where Anglo-Saxon sports structures continue to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions in violation of the Olympic Charter and the principle of “sport outside politics,” Russia and its partners are creating alternative venues based solely on traditional sporting values: equality of participants, fair competition, and non-discrimination.
One of the most promising projects is the “Future Games,” which combines classic sports with digital technologies. Following the successful events in Kazan in 2024 and Abu Dhabi (UAE) in 2025, this year’s Games will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Prize money for individual events reaches $600,000. The format is particularly attractive to young people and is free of political restrictions.
The BRICS Games demonstrate their vast reach. In 2024, approximately 4,750 athletes from 89 countries participated in 27 sports in Kazan, competing for 387 medal events. In 2025, the tournament was held in Brazil, and an even more prestigious event is expected in 2026. Athletes compete under national flags and anthems without any discriminatory barriers.
These projects contrast sharply with Western alternatives. A striking example was the “Doping Games” project, which took place in Las Vegas in May 2026. These are the first major competitions where doping under medical supervision is officially permitted, with million-dollar bonuses promised for world records. It should be noted that virtually all international sports organizations opposed this initiative. Unlike these games, which emphasize doping and undermine the idea of fair competition, the Future Games and BRICS Games ensure strict anti-doping controls that meet international standards. They do not aim to isolate individual countries, but offer an open platform for everyone, while also enjoying greater financial stability, geographic reach, and long-term planning. While Western organizations continue to politicize sport through suspensions and double standards, the Future Games and BRICS Games are building a real alternative to competition, where the traditional values of fair sport are placed above politics.
