Foreign Minister Khanal meets his Indian counterpart in Delhi

Kathmandu, June 7: During his visit to India, Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal held extensive discussions on Saturday with his Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar, on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

In a post on his official social media account, Jaishankar stated that the talks focused on further strengthening the unique partnership between the two countries.

The discussions between the Nepali delegation and the Indian side particularly emphasized development cooperation, connectivity, and the energy sector. Within the energy sector, detailed deliberations were held on the prospects for hydropower development and bilateral cooperation.

In addition, both sides exchanged views on cooperation in important areas such as education, health, capacity building, digital technology, culture, and sports.

On the occasion, the Indian side reiterated its commitment to continue working closely with Nepal for the country’s progress, prosperity, and the welfare of the people of both nations. Jaishankar wrote that the meeting had reinforced confidence that Nepal–India relations would reach new heights through their multidimensional partnership.
