Kathmandu, April 2: DP Aryal, vice president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been elected unopposed as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
After a single candidacy was filed for the Speaker, Aryal was elected unopposed. The deadline for filing candidacy was set until 2 PM on Friday.
Within the allotted time, only Aryal’s candidacy was submitted, said Ekram Giri, spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat. According to spokesperson Giri, a proposal regarding the candidacy for the Speaker will be presented at the House of Representatives meeting to be held on Chaitra 22.
After it is passed by the House of Representatives, Aryal will be announced as elected Speaker.
