Coalition government a “gathering of rascals”

The Supreme Court’s verdict re-instating parliament is a historic one. It has proved the Court’s as well as parliament’s supremacy over the executive.

This verdict has cleared the confusion in the constitution. It has ruled that the recommendation of the Prime Minister on 13 June on dissolving parliament was unconstitutional. That will be a guideline for the future.

The verdict also ruled out that a caretaker government cannot bring a fully-fledged budget affecting the whole economy and the country’s rules and regulations.

However possibility of a coalition government formed among those 103 MPs who had signed a claim to that effect has been revived.

People’s Review, 31 August 1995.
