PM Oli backs political teachers

Kathmandu, August 18: Neglecting the nation’s laws and regulations, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli has opined that teachers should be allowed to do politics.

Addressing the 23rd national council of the National Teachers’ Organisation, affiliated with the UML, PM Oli on Saturday, August 17, opined that the teachers have made a remarkable contribution to the political and social change in society, therefore, his government is not going to restrict the teachers from being involved in politics.

Oli, indicating towards the acts of Sumana Shrestha, education minister in the previous government, who prohibited teachers from being associated with political parties, PM Oli said that his government will not take action against teachers on the allegation of doing politics.

Oli further urged the teachers to be active in social reforms.
