Supreme Court dismisses all petitions in favor of tax evasion by internet service providers

Kathmandu, May 13: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday dismissed all the writ petitions filed in favor of tax evasion by internet service providers.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had directed the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) to make immediate payments after an investigation last year found tax evasion of Rs 2.5 billion.

World Link had filed several writ petitions in the Court against the directive. With the Supreme Court’s decision, the way for collecting taxes has now been opened.

Different internet service providers had denied paying millions of rupees worth of tax to the government.
