Whether the Congress is to clean its house now that the guessing game on the UML motion of no confidence is over, is yet uncertain. If accommodation has been fought over, in yet in the tussle for Congress power, it will be evinced in a soon-to-be-held cabinet reshuffle and similar give and take in the party working committee.
The word is a continued struggle, this will be seen in the party “mahasabha”. As is known, the working committee has a KP Bhattarai-GM Singh majority while the parliamentary party has a GP hold. This was-will demonstrated in the tug-of-war before the no-confidence motion. What is certain is that the two ranks are drawn and they have barely averted a colossal mishap in collision. Since politics is the art of compromise, it is a compromise that edged out the UML motion. That more such compromises are to be engineered to breach the widened gap is clear. How, remains anybody’s guess still.
