Investment summit concludes without major breakthrough

Kathmandu, May 30: The third international investment summit started in Kathmandu on Sunday, April 28, and concluded on Monday evening, April 29.

Finance Minister Barshaman Pun said that the summit was a grand success, nevertheless, besides some minor agreements, there was no vital agreement for attracting foreign investments at an encouraging level. 

Even though, the government is optimistic that foreign investors would consider the projects in showcase within the given deadline of 35 and 45 days.    

Above 2500 businessmen and investors including above 800 foreign investors participated in the international summit.

A total of 154 projects including hydropower and infrastructural projects were exhibited during the summit seeking concept papers of the investors. 

Representatives from the World Bank Group, India, China, Kuwait, UAE, London and the USA, among other countries, participated in the summit.
