On/Off the Record

Whether we want a strong nation or the demise of a sovereign, independent, and indivisible motherland, it is up to us. Today, the nation has become hostage to foreign puppet political leaders who have already destroyed our tradition, civilization, culture, language, and social harmony, more importantly, they have already destroyed our economic structure, including all the important organs needed for the functioning of an independent nation.
Oddly, the Nepali Congress’ general secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma was giving a speech saying that during the Kings’ days, people were unable to get a passport to visit abroad. Now, people are going abroad and sending remittances to Nepal from which their family members are getting medical services at home. It is ridiculous that those responsible political leaders feel happy about the remittance revenue. Today, there is a hue and cry among the family members of the youths who have joined the Russian army. People are going to different countries and joining the Russian army through brokers and human traffickers. Not only in the Russian Army but also in the security forces of different countries, Nepali youths have been recruited illegally. Many Nepali women are serving in different restricted countries and they are at a high risk. Indeed, sending our youths for a dirty and low-quality job just for the remittance revenue of the country is not a positive economy. The fact is that when the government is unable to provide jobs to the youths within the country, there are no other options except for going abroad for dirty jobs.
Shamelessly, the government allowed the authority to spend 200 million rupees worth of projects directly to the Indian Embassy without notice to the Nepal government. Such a practice is against the sovereignty and independence of the nation.
Already, since the 1990 political change, above 95 percent of the national business has gone to Indian businessmen. Our national businessmen, who were preserved and protected by the kings have already been displaced from the unhealthy competition. How the newcomer Marbaris have become multibillionaires overnight, the Bansbari Shoe Factory’s land grab scandal is one of the evidence.
Those who came to power after the 1990 political change, disposed of the labor-consuming government undertakings. The remaining government undertakings also felt sick as the non-visionary leaders turned such industries into the political worker’s recruitment center. The government has become incapable and inefficient that it is unable to operate the three international airports and planning to hand over the international airports to the Indian business house led by Gautam Adani. The operation of the airport is a sensitive issue. This is also related to the security of a nation. India is keen to intervene in Nepali security, thus far, as per the Indian grand design, the present government, in the process of serving the Indian interests, is planning to hand over the key airports to the Indians. This could be a serious blunder for Nepal.
We should understand that India is never in favor of a prosperous and strong Nepal. Indians believe that it would be difficult for them to use the Nepalis if they become prosperous, self-reliant and strong. Therefore, the Indians always plan to destroy our economy.
In conclusion, all the political parties are in a rush to please their Indian bosses. In the process of pleasing India, each successor government rewarded India with precious gifts which were against the Nepali sovereignty. If this process continues, very soon, the day will come when we may lose our Nepali identity. We have already seen the expansionist Indian hegemony. How Sikkim was annexed, is a lesson for us. How India has suppressed the Kashmiris who are seeking independence, we should take a lesson from it as well.
Finally, the general public has already understood the foreigners’ gameplan, and thus, they are seeking a change. The change for the betterment of Nepal and the Nepali people. They have already announced a movement against the present foreign powers imposed political system and foreign power-empowered leaders of the day. Now, it is up to us, whether to join the movement for a change and save Nepal or to lose our national identity and become a slave of a foreign country!
We hope, all the Nepalis, who have become victims of the present political system and victims of those corrupt political leaders who are even ready to sell their own motherland, should become united and free the nation from the grip of those evil people. Time and tide will never wait and we should not miss the bus!
