A delegation led by Chinese Vice Minister Sun Haiyan, representing the International Department of the Communist Party of China, who was in Kathmandu recently on a three-day visit, gave a powerful message to all Nepali leaders, who often tend to serve the interest of the southern neighbours and western powers.

During discussions with the leaders of Nepal’s political parties in Kathmandu on Sunday, Sun Haiyan said that other countries were trying to play the game against Nepal and China. By saying so, she clearly hinted that the Nepali leaders were serving the enemies of China.

Haiyan said, “The political relations between the two countries are good but some other countries do not want to see this.”

She said that the reason for visiting Nepal and holding joint consultations with political parties was to improve the relationship between the two countries.

She said that the heads of state of both countries were trying to strengthen the relationship and the signing of the memorandum of agreements had also strengthened the relationship between the two countries.

“This time I held many meetings leading the CPC delegation. Our ambassador has also been working very hard,” she said. “We need to work on how to improve Nepal-China relations and cooperate in the new era.”

She said that China has invested in the development infrastructure of neighbouring countries. But, the projects being developed in Nepal with Chinese investment are being delayed because of COVID-19 pandemic and other reasons.

Similarly, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, said that they were going to improve the relationship between the two countries.

In the discussion, National Assembly Vice Chair Urmila Aryal, Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Maoist Centre General Secretary Dev Gurung and other leaders of various parties participated in the interaction programme between the Chinese and Indian leaders.

Earlier, Sun called on Prime Minister Prachanda and top leaders of major parties and discussed national, international and bilateral issues.
