Loktantrik Samajwadi Party on the verge of split

By Our Reporter

The ruling Loktantrik Samajwadi Party led by Mahantha Thakur is now on the verge of split.

As Thakur and the party’s second leader Rajendra Mahato have not been on good terms, and they have been unable to run any activities for a long time, Mahato is now planning to create a new party as laws to prevent the split of a new party for five years. Due to this dispute, Mahato boycotted the central committee meeting called by Thakur.

Mahato recently reached New Delhi, India, probably to make a final decision to create a new party. He has already declared a ‘national liberation revolution’ and has visited various districts to understand the views of the party activists regarding his plan to form a new party. Leaders close to Mahato have started saying that Thakur and Mahato are no longer in the same party.

In August 2021, Thakur, Mahato, Sarat Singh Bhandari, Anil Jha and other leaders split the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal (JSP-N) and formed the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party.

Less than two years after the formation of the party, a division was noticed between Thakur and Mahato.
