
Kathmandu, 28 December: Minister for Culture and Tourism, Sudan Kiranti, who fell into controversy by presenting himself as a preacher of Christianity, is being rejected by the public. His name was removed from the chief guest at the 17th Chitwan Tourism and Elephant Festival which was held in Chitwan on Tuesday.
Earlier, it was decided to invite Minister Kiranti to attend the festival organized by the Regional Hotel Association and the officials had already talked to him. Following the recent controversy, the organizers dropped his name as the chief guest.
According to sources, a group of locals had prepared to demonstrate black flags against him, therefore, to avoid an unpleasant situation, the Association decided to remove his name from the chief guest.
The festival was inaugurated by inviting Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat.
