Kathmandu, 26 December: The Kirat community in the country is observing the Udhauli festival today.
The festival is observed on the full moon day of the Nepali month of Mangshir according to the lunar calendar. On the occasion, the community worships nature, God, and ancestors before harvesting the paddy from their farmland.
As the temperature declines, humans, animals and birds shift to lowlands from highlands due to cold, thus far, it is called Udhauli.
The Kirat community gathers at one place and observes the festival by singing and dancing along with eating delicious food.
