Kathmandu, 10 December: The Public Service Commission has recommended Sewa Lamsal, joint secretary, to the post of foreign secretary.
The meeting of the promotion committee of the Public Service Commission chaired by PSC chairman Madhav Prasad Regmi has recommended Lamshal’s name for the post of foreign secretary.
Foreign secretary Bharatraj Paudel, has been recommended for the ambassadorial post. Paudel retired on Tuesday due to his age.
Along with the retirement of Paudel, Lamsal has assumed office as acting secretary of the foreign ministry.
Following the recommendation of the PSC, the upcoming cabinet meeting should promote Lamsal to the post of foreign secretary.
Lamsal will become the first female foreign secretary to command the foreign ministry.
